"You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."
- 2 Corinthians 3:3

A glimpse at our ministries at Cross & Crown

Worship & Music

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe; for indeed our God is a consuming fire."    Hebrews 12:28-29

Worship is at the core of our  ministry.  Through music, scriptures, sermons, and liturgies, we gather to praise God and accept the invitation to hear the Word.  Communion is celebrated at both regular Sunday worship services.  Throughout the year, other worship opportunities are offered, such as during Lent and Advent.

Learning occurs not only in our weekly Sunday School programs, but also through our confirmation program, week-day Bible Studies and camping experiences.

Sunday School classes for children and adults are held from 9:15 a.m. to 10:20 a.m., between the two worship services.  Confirmation classes are held at the same time.  Check out the calendar for other learning opportunities.

Embracing its mission "to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ," WELCA (Women of the ELCA) meets regularly.

Jesus commanded "love your neighbor as yourself."  Service to each other and to our community is treasured at Cross & Crown.  For years, members have built wheelchair ramps for disabled individuals.  Our Service Committee routinely finds ways to be of service to those in need.

As an evangelical church, we are called to witness to the good news of Jesus Christ.  As a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we embrace its statement that "as individual members and as a corporate body this church lives out the Christian faith in encounter with the concerns that shape life in Godís creation."

The "Living Simply" program was distributed during the recent Lenten season which gave members opportunities to reflect on how, as Christians, we should spend our time and decide how to move God's version of the "good life" into our own lives.

Our Witness Committee develops ways in which our congregation can reach out to others in the community.

Tanzania ministries

During the summer of 2007, five members of Cross & Crown traveled to Tanzania in East Africa.  Plans are in the works to return in the summer of 2009.  Visit our Tanzania Ministry page to learn more about this trip and the ministries which been developed since the team's visit by clicking here.

Community ministries

Cross & Crown has a rich history of offering our facilities to community organizations.  The Welcoming Club,  Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Overeaters Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and others meet regularly at the church.  Click on the calendar; just below the monthly calendar on the left is a drop-down menu - select community ministries to see upcoming meeting dates for the various groups.
